MISSION, TEXAS – Stanley Black & Decker – the world’s largest manufacture of tools and outdoor products – has announced a more than $4 million expansion to its existing Mission plant that will include a new assembly line creating 88 new full-time permanent positions and the retention of 150 existing jobs.

The additional operations include plastic injection molding, a new assembly line, equipment upgrades and workforce training to increase production capacity and support continued operational growth. The project, located in Stanley Black & Decker’s facility in the Mission Expressway Business Park, is scheduled to begin in October 2026.

The investment follows a competitive site selection process in which Stanley Black & Decker evaluated multiple locations before choosing to remain and expand in Mission. The decision reflects the company’s continued confidence in the city’s strategic location, workforce and business climate.

“This project demonstrates the strength and competitiveness of Mission’s and the Rio Grande Valley’s emerging manufacturing sector,” said Teclo J. Garcia, Chief Executive Officer of the Mission Economic Development Corporation. “This investment supports job creation, increased production capacity and long-term economic activity in the region that ultimately provide good paying jobs for families. We are very appreciative of Stanley Black & Decker and their desire to stay here.”

Garcia added the project is expected to generate an estimated $24 million in direct and indirect economic impact, according to a study performed by the University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley.

“This is a true business retention and expansion project,” said Stephanie Mendiola, business development director for MEDC. “Stanley Black & Decker’s decision to expand in Mission reflects the value of the workforce, location and the partnership that supports their continued growth.”

Products manufactured at the Mission facility are distributed to global markets, including Europe, positioning the facility as part of the company’s broader international supply chain. The  Connecticut-based company, which has more than 100 manufacturing facilities with 60,000 employees in the U.S., owns brands such as Stanley, DeWalt, Craftsman, Irwin, Club Cadet and many more. Its products are sold in 180 countries.

The expansion supports continued growth in Mission’s manufacturing sector and aligns with MEDC’s focus on business retention, job creation and long-term economic development. SB&D first opened in Mission in October 2017.
