We visited Con Ganas, Mija, a vibrant, mercado-style collective that puts Latina-owned businesses front and center. What began as an idea to create space for women makers has become a growing movement rooted in culture, creativity, and community.
Meet the mujeres behind the mission: artists, bakers, jewelers, and jefas who are changing what entrepreneurship looks like in the Rio Grande Valley. Powered by passion and backed by the Build Mission Fund, they’re not just selling products. They’re creating a space where women rise together.
Downtown Mission - Ana Liz Taqueria

In 2024, Ana Liz Taqueria put Mission on the culinary map, earning Texas Monthly’s #1 Taco in Texas and recognition from the James Beard Foundation as Best Chef in Texas.
A true downtown favorite, Ana Liz continues to grow and share its award-winning flavors with the community.
With support from Mission EDC’s Downtown Assistance Program, the taqueria received a $25,000 grant to expand its space and serve even more customers. This milestone highlights not only the strength of Mission’s culinary scene but also the entrepreneurial spirit that thrives in our city.

For more than 50 years, the Garcia family’s building has been a cornerstone of Downtown Mission, first as an upholstery shop, and now as the home of Baldo’s Tires & Wheels. Family-owned and operated, Baldo’s has become a trusted spot for wheels, tires, drop kits, lift kits, wire wheels, and more. With support from the Mission EDC’s Downtown Assistance Program, this legacy business received a $25,000 grant to preserve their historic building and keep it rolling strong.

In 2014, Pilar Gonzalez was one of the very first winners of Mission EDC’s Ruby Red Ventures competition, securing $25,000 to bring her vision for Dip It by Pilar to life.
Fast forward to today, Pilar’s products are now featured in more than 200 H-E-B stores across Texas, and her journey has become an inspiring model of entrepreneurship. But she didn’t stop there, Pilar is now paying it forward by leading a co-packing manufacturing plant in Mission, TX, run entirely by an all-women team. Together, they support other female entrepreneurs by packaging and producing their products, opening new doors of opportunity across the region.
This is more than a business success; it’s a story of innovation, empowerment, and community impact.

Since 2018, RODCO Steel Distributors has been a trusted name in structural steel, metal building components, fences, and gates, supporting industries across the nation and beyond. Known for quality, competitive pricing, and reliable delivery, RODCO has become a cornerstone in helping businesses build stronger, faster, and smarter. Now, RODCO is taking its Mission roots even further. The company is investing $9.5 million to construct over 100,000 sq. ft. of new industrial space in the city. This upcoming expansion will feature a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant and a modern facility with warehouse and industrial office spaces for lease, positioning Mission as a growing hub for steel distribution and advanced manufacturing.
Mission Manufacturing - Royal Technologies

Royal Technologies is a leading employee-owned engineering and manufacturing firm specializing in custom injection molding, urethane foam production, and advanced assembly solutions. Their state-of-the-art 345,000 sq. ft. facility, completed in 2014, spans 12 acres within the Business Park at Trinity and stands as one of Mission’s largest manufacturing investments. Inside, the facility houses over 70 injection molding presses with capacities ranging from 85 to 1,500 tons, along with advanced assembly lines designed to serve industries around the globe. This blend of scale, innovation, and employee ownership makes Royal Technologies a true driver of Mission’s manufacturing strength and economic growth.

Recently relocated to the City of Mission, Texas, Tekna brings cutting-edge technology and technical expertise to deliver high-quality, customized label solutions that meet the demands of both global and local markets.
