MISSION, TEXAS — The Mission Economic Development Corporation (Mission EDC) is proud to announce the expansion of Tekna Impact, a Mission-based manufacturer specializing in label printing and converting. The expansion strengthens the company's production capabilities, supports future workforce growth and reinforces Mission's growing manufacturing sector.
Tekna Impact recently acquired production assets from Whitlam Group's former Harlingen operation, including a six-color flexographic printing press, finishing and inspection equipment, and additional operational resources. Once fully commissioned, the expansion will bring the company's operations to four production lines and six finishing stations, increasing capacity, improving turnaround times and supporting larger customer programs.
The company currently supports a team of 23 professionals and anticipates additional hiring as production increases. Over the next two years, Tekna Impact projects approximately eight additional positions beyond its near-term hiring plans, representing the potential to grow its workforce by more than 50%.
"Tekna Impact's expansion reflects the strength of Mission's manufacturing sector and the opportunities available for local businesses to grow," said Joe Salazar, Acting CEO of Mission EDC. "We are proud to support companies that continue investing in our community, strengthening our workforce and contributing to Mission's long-term economic growth."
The expansion was made possible through the efforts of Tekna Impact's own team, led by Plant Manager Emilio Fuentes, who coordinated the relocation and installation of the equipment. The project progressed from initial discussions to planned production in less than six weeks.
"Mission has been an exceptional home for Tekna Impact. The accessibility, encouragement, and continued support we have received from the City of Mission and Mission EDC have played a meaningful role in our stability and growth. We are proud to continue investing in Mission and contributing to the region’s manufacturing future," said Ernesto Gonzalez, President of Tekna Impact.
The additional capacity will strengthen Tekna Impact’s ability to serve automotive and other industrial manufacturers, as well as food packagers and agricultural producers, throughout the Rio Grande Valley and Northern Mexico industrial corridor, further supporting Mission’s position as a destination for manufacturing and cross-border business growth.
