Mission EDC Celebrates Groundbreaking of ZERLUMA's $50 Million Manufacturing Facility, One of the Largest Private Investments in Mission's History

MISSION, TEXAS — The Mission Economic Development Corporation (Mission EDC), in partnership with the City of Mission, celebrated the groundbreaking of ZERLUMA's new $50 million aluminum recycling and manufacturing facility on Tuesday, July 28, marking one of the largest private industrial investments in the City's history.

The project represents another major milestone in Mission's long-term economic development strategy, further positioning the city as a destination for advanced manufacturing, sustainable industry, and industrial investment. The groundbreaking brought together elected officials, business leaders, regional partners, and higher education institutions to celebrate the start of construction on a project that will strengthen Mission's industrial base and regional economy.

Located at 300 Trinity Street, the nearly 98,000-square-foot facility will manufacture recycled aluminum billets for customers across North America. The project is expected to create approximately 70 permanent manufacturing jobs, support an estimated 240 permanent and temporary jobs throughout construction and operations, and generate an estimated $120 million in annual economic impact once operational.

Formerly known as Century Recycling, ZERLUMA selected Mission after evaluating sites across Texas and the United States. Company leadership cited Mission's strategic location, international trade access, business-friendly environment, and collaborative economic development approach as key factors in the decision. The facility will strengthen domestic aluminum supply chains while advancing sustainable manufacturing through circular economy practices.

Mission Mayor Norie Gonzalez Garza highlighted the project's lasting impact on the community.
