Mission EDC Awards $150,000 to Strengthen Downtown Mission Through Third Year of Downtown Assistance Program

MISSION, TEXAS – The Mission Economic Development Corporation (Mission EDC) has awarded $150,000 through the third year of its Downtown Assistance Program (DAP), continuing its investment in the revitalization and growth of Downtown Mission.
Since the program launched, Mission EDC has invested $450,000 into Downtown Mission, supporting 23 local businesses with funding for property improvements, renovations, expansions, and façade enhancements that strengthen the city's historic business district.
The 2026 Downtown Assistance Program recipients are:
- Conway Food Mart
- Saveco Insurance
- David Jose Garza
- D'LUX Event
- Southern Fried
- Lionel's Western Wear
- Mission Boot Shop
"Downtown Mission is the heart of our community, and investing in the businesses that call it home is an investment in our city's future," said Teclo Garcia, CEO of Mission EDC. "Over the past three years, the Downtown Assistance Program has invested $450,000 into 23 businesses, helping owners improve their properties, attract customers, and contribute to a stronger, more vibrant downtown."
The Downtown Assistance Program provides matching grant assistance to eligible businesses located along Conway Avenue for projects that improve commercial properties and preserve the character of Downtown Mission. By partnering with local business owners, Mission EDC is encouraging private investment, supporting small business growth, and enhancing the downtown experience for residents and visitors alike.
Now in its third year, the Downtown Assistance Program remains a cornerstone of Mission EDC's commitment to strengthening existing businesses, preserving Downtown Mission's unique identity, and creating lasting economic opportunity.
